One of the best lures ever?

Over the years, this lure has been one of the most effective, most versatile, and definitely most budget friendly lure I have ever used. I can say, this lure is one of the best lures in my tackle box. This lure is the Curly Tail Grub.

As young as I can remember, these were one of the first lures I used to catch fish. I was able to catch fish as a young and inexperienced angler. I would just use a hook and a split shot weight and cast and retrieve. I caught my first large mouth bass with a grub lure. I eventually learned to rig it with a jig head, and my catch ratio really increased. The spotted Bay Bass in my local bay loved a 3 inch grub on a 1/4 ounce jig head. I would also catch Halibut, Croakers, and just about anything in the local bays.

While fishing inshore around the Kelp Beds, a 5 or 6 inch grub is very effective catching Calico Bass, White Seabass, and various rockfish species. Some of my favorite colors are white or root beer flake. Using a jig head with a cast and retrieve technique is simple and effective. While fishing in depths of up to 300 feet simply jig it up and down. The curly tail action will catch your target gamefish. While fishing deeper past 300 feet, I like to rig a white or glow in the dark grub using a double dropper loop rig. A bigger 6 to 8 inch grub will catch your Ling cod or other rock cod species.
